Nigel Clough: Wolves v Burton was 'biggest mismatch'

Burton Albion boss Nigel Clough said his team's clash with Wolves was the 'biggest mismatch' in the country on Saturday.

Two goals from Benik Afobe and another from Helder Costa saw Nuno Espirito Santo's side ease to a 3-1 victory at Molineux.

Relegation-threatened Burton pulled one back through Lloyd Dyer but otherwise endured a fruitless afternoon and only mustered three shots at goal and 29 per cent possession.

Clough said: "The quality Wolves have is very close now to Premier League standard. This was the biggest mismatch in English football today.

"You have got £15million players out there and that is more than half our budget. That shows the difference. With all the will in the world we didn't expect to get much.

"My only criticism of the players is the goals that we conceded. They were a little bit too easy from our point of view.

"It was a big gulf in quality, that was the standard of the players that were on the pitch, unfortunately.

"They were very good goals from Wolves' point of view, just too easy from our point of view.

"It's a very, very difficult afternoon for our lads as professional footballers, when there is that much of a gulf between the teams."
