In Wolves terms they’ve had a blip in the past two weeks, drawing two and and then losing to Swansea in the FA Cup on Wednesday.

Jota wants no let up as they strive to consolidate or increase their 10-point lead at the top of the Championship.

“Of course we have to improve, if we don’t win for two matches in a row something is wrong and we have to fix that,” the 21-year-old said yesterday.

“We have to be back on track. This game is important.

“We are winning (the league) but we have to know the last two games we didn’t win, so we have to be back on track.”

Jota scored on Wednesday in a lively substitute appearance at the Liberty Stadium.

The Atletico Madrid loanee says he’s coping fine with the busy schedule.

“It was my job as a substitute to try and do something different, I tried to do that,” he added.

“Unfortunately for us it wasn’t enough but now all the focus is on the league.

“People saw the two games, at least saw that we can compete with them without problems.

“It’s completely different (to Portugal), we play once a week, but that’s football. Players like playing.

“Each game is an opportunity to show our value and if we have more games we have more opportunities.

“I say (to people back home) it’s been worth being here because we’re doing a good job and because of that everything is good.”

Jota is on loan for the season but Wolves have an option to buy the forward, who has netted 11 times in 29 matches this season.

He remains tight-lipped on his future: “I don’t know that at the moment. When the moment arrives I’ll think of it. “I’m happy to be here, I’ll do my job until the end and then we’ll see.”
