Steve Bull: It's unlikely Wolves will tail off like last time

A few people have reminded me that the last time Wolves won the opening three games of the season was in the 1998/99 season, when myself and Robbie Keane were up front together.

That campaign failed to realise its early promise and Mark McGhee lost his job in November.

But I highly doubt this season is going to tail off like that one.

It’s dangerous to get carried away and football’s a funny old game – just when you think you’ve got it sorted, it comes and bites you on the bottom.

You won’t find me shouting from the rooftops that we’re going to win the league, but there have been so many positives to take from these early stages it’s been easy to lose count. Before the season I said if we got six or seven points from the opening three games that would provide us a brilliant platform, but picking up all nine has got everyone dreaming.

Ruben Neves proved to many this week why he cost £15.8million with one of the best goals that’s going to be seen in the Championship for a long time.

It was a great goal he scored, but for me, he’s already proved his class with his spectacular range of passing.

Not that all the attention should just be on Neves. He’s a special player but this is no one-man team.

Nuno has got the whole group playing together in an exciting 3-4-3 formation that will certainly guarantee goals.

Everyone appears to know their job, and it’s impressive how quickly they’ve hit the ground running after so much upheaval in the summer.

A lot of that is down to Nuno’s preparation in pre-season and the fact the majority of Wolves’s business was done early on.
