Sixteen-year-old Samuels is the latest product off the Compton Park production line and scored the winner in Wolves’ friendly at Peterborough United on Tuesday night.

And the joyful celebrations of the youngster thrilled his team-mates and supporters alike with senior pros like David Edwards and Conor Coady rushing to celebrate with the teenager.

Academy product Samuels was first spotted playing for Newbridge Rangers aged seven and has been on Wolves’ books since he was eight.

Speaking after the game, first-teamer Matt Doherty said: “The best part of it was his celebration – you could see how much it meant to him. Normally in pre-season you might just score and walk back but he might have even kissed the badge. We celebrated it as well because you can see the passion he had for it.”

Samuels garnered hundreds of new followers on social media after the game, retweeting many messages he received from fans, including one from supporter AndyG on Twitter, who wrote: “What a moment for the teenager who must’ve dreamt of this moment since he signed for us at the age of eight.”
