The Scot faces a waiting game to find out his fate – but while his position remains unclear, the head coach's preference is to stay at the club.

Lambert is known to be deeply concerned at the influence agent Jorge Mendes may have on Wolves' summer recruitment.

Crunch talks appear to have not gone the 47-year-old's way with Jeff Shi understood to be searching for Wolves' fifth manager in ten months.

Which side are you on?

Lambert to stay:

The Storm: This whole business sounds extremely dodgy, I really hope Lambert stays.

Tracey Roberts: I'm shocked and appalled in the owners. What on earth are they doing? They are going against what they said they were going to do. :( Disappointed.

Cam Southall: Ridiculous, I cannot believe they have "sacked" Paul Lambert from newspaper headlines. I have no faith or hope in Wolves anymore.

Interpaul UK: This is soul crushingly disappointing, what's happening to our club?

Matt Durnall: This so wrong on Lambert. Really upset this has happened, we're definitely turning into one of those clubs which I can't bare.

Mark Russell: This Fosun don't have a clue about football matters.

Lambert to go:

Peter Aas: We've just have to wait until they've made a decision. It all depends on who they appoint. If the new manager is installed in time there's no reason to worry.

Tom Rouse: They're ruthless business people, we are just part of their massive network of business interests. Whenever a contract is agreed with Karanka or that Portuguese bloke, Lambert will be gone.

Shewolf1943: Sometimes a manager and club gel. Take Eddie Howe, done very good job at Bournemouth, but couldn't hack it at Burnley Moyes at Everton, has done no good anywhere else. Hopefully we find the right fit for us

Dubai Wolves: Maybe PLs boring football sent me to sleep. He just has to go. Need someone with energy, flair and enthusiasm. Otherwise the boredom of this season will hang around like a noose into next season.

Princess Schnufflekins: Get shot and get Karanka in. I can remember Wolves being taken to pieces by his powerful fast and skillfull Middlesbrough team.
