Flop Paul Gladon 'finding it hard' at Wolves

The £1million flop has played only 196 minutes in a Wolves shirt with his last appearance coming under Walter Zenga way back in September.

Gladon joined from Heracles late last summer and featured three times under Zenga. Lambert criticised the Dutchman two months after taking charge, saying the 25-year-old wasn't 'up to speed' for the Championship.

And he's now conceded that Gladon has perhaps found English football harder than expected.

While stopping short of saying Gladon would leave this summer, Lambert told the Express & Star: "He's just not part of it. I’ve got so many players here. Paul has maybe found it hard himself. I think it’s maybe thrown him as well, how hard it is. I’ve just got to go with ones I think can do it, week in week out.

"Maybe he’ll come to me and say it’s not worked, which is fine, no issues. It’s an area where we’ll try and strengthen.

"He’s trained with us a bit and done games with the under-23s and things like that.

"You can’t train 30-odd guys, the squad’s too big, you have to cut it and unfortunately guys have to miss out at times."

It looks likely that Gladon will be moved on this summer although Wolves will want to recoup as much of his £1m fee as they can.

He made his debut in the 1-1 draw with Burton last September and was elbowed in the face by defender Kyle McFadzean. He then started the 2-0 EFL Cup defeat at Newcastle, playing 90 minutes.

His last appearance was from the bench a week later in the 2-1 defeat to Wigan at the DW Stadium.

Wolves, who have used 34 players this season ahead of the final-day clash with Preston at Molineux on Sunday, are set for a mass clearout this summer.

The futures of Mike Williamson, Silvio, James Henry, Jack Price and George Saville, who are all out of contract, are likely to be revealed next week.
