Wolves winger Ivan Cavaleiro back for Aston Villa clash

Wolves have been handed a fitness boost with £7million record signing Ivan Cavaleiro likely to be fit for their West Midlands derby against Villa on Saturday.

Cavaleiro missed Saturday's FA Cup victory at Stoke City with a slight knee problem.

But he has now returned to training and should be fine for the 5.30pm televised clash.

The Portuguese winger has scored three goals in his past six appearances.

Prince Oniangue was absent through illness on Saturday but is also now in contention.

Lambert told the Express & Star: "Cavaleiro had a little problem with his knee but he's trained now so hopefully he'll be okay and available for this weekend.

"Prince wasn't well, he had a bug and didn't travel with. He's back in with us today (Tuesday) but still wasn't up to speed, he had a viral problem."

Oniangue's last Wolves appearance came in the 1-0 defeat at Brighton way back in mid-October.

The 28-year-old has endured injury problems but now finds himself down the pecking order.

Lambert has plenty of options for his two central midfield berths. So far in his brief tenure as boss he's fielded Jack Price, Conor Coady, David Edwards, Lee Evans, George Saville and Romain Saiss.

With Evans returning to action at Stoke after five months out he has six central midfielders to choose from, with Saiss having gone to the African Cup of Nations with Morocco.

Lambert said of Oniangue: "He needs to get games. He's a lovely lad, a really top bloke, but I can only pick two central midfielders and there's more here than I can count.

"So he's just going to have to fight like everybody else."
