Winger Ola John looks set to leave Wolves with his loan spell believed to be almost at an end.

The 24-year-old had signed up to a season-long deal from Benfica last August, one of five loanees snapped up by Wolves in the summer.

However he has played just 27 minutes of Championship football in two substitute appearances.

He also made a 45-minute appearance in the 2-0 EFL Cup defeat at Newcastle United.

John has yet to appear under boss Paul Lambert due to a hamstring injury which has sidelined him for three months.

He returned to training this week but his loan deal is now set to be cut short. It's thought that Benfica will loan him to Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna.

Manchester United defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is also expected to have his loan deal cancelled in the coming days.

He too has yet to feature under Lambert, but hasn't had any injury problems. The 19-year-old's last appearance came in the 3-2 defeat to Derby County at Molineux in November.

The pair will be the first of a host of players to leave Molineux this month. Joao Teixeira is due to be on loan from Benfica for the season but his exit also looks likely having made only three substitute cameos under Lambert.

Jed Wallace is also thought to be close to sealing a move away from the club and Wolves will look to offload Paul Gladon on loan.

The Dutch striker has played just three times since joining for £1m from Heracles.
