Fans' verdict on Wolves' Checkatrade Trophy exit

What's your verdict on the match? Another good opportunity for the future Wolves stars. Plus an enjoyable evening for the travelling fans.

We were comfortable in the first half, restricting Swans to one missed sitter header whilst Wolves moved forward with ease spending plenty of play in the Swansea half of the field.

A well placed shot from the impressive Christian Herc had opened the scoring and we certainly deserved to be in front at half time.

However, a disappointing start to the second half with the Swans equalising almost immediately put Wolves on the back foot for a time.

We got through that though and later advanced again with plenty of good play up front, particularly from Will Randall and substitute Bradley Reid when he came on.

Reid came closest when a great chance in front of goal was crying out for a different second touch.

To be fair either side could have won it with their chances, but the Swansea winner was a pretty decent header.

Hence, and sadly, our run in the new format EFL Trophy is over.

Who played well - and who didn't impress? Nicu Carnat was simply superb. Centre halves Aaron Hayden and Connor Johnson were particularly impressive when Wolves were under pressure in the second half.

What's your verdict on the match? It's been a good few years since we had a memorable cup run and this one felt just as disappointing, on exit, as all the others since our last visit to Wembley - a mere 28 years ago!

I've been to four of our five games in this much maligned competition and I have enjoyed it tremendously. It's been a great opportunity to see our 'young & hungry' future stars in games which were more competitive than the usual matches in which they are showcased.

I very much hope it continues, but this is surely unlikely due to low attendances.

We arrived at Liberty Stadium very much the underdogs with us missing a few key players and Swansea on an impressive winning run.

It was very much a game of two halves - we were impressive in the first half and I'm sure Swansea were happy that it was only 1-0 at half time. We had chances to get the second but it wasn't to be.

In the second half, Swansea upped their tempo and we couldn't. We were hanging on a bit at 1-1 and it was the lateness of the winning goal that added to the disappointment.

They probably deserved it across the whole game.

Who played well - and who didn't impress? I was impressed with the work rate and team ethic of this group of players.

No doubt about it, we have some very good players at this age group.

Most are comfortable with the ball and always look to use it in a positive and effective way. There were no punts up field for some poor striker to chase, no aimless hoofing of the ball to clear from danger. Hats off to Scott Sellars and the coaches.

The wide men were impressive, especially in the first half.

A few names I'd expect to see much more of include Will Randall and Nicu Carnat. Morgan Gibbs-White also looks the part in midfield. Christian Herc was my pick of a very good bunch, last night.

Finally, thanks to Wolves for providing coach travel. It swung my decision to go last night and I'm very glad that I did.
