Ethan Ebanks-Landell and Nathan Byrne seal moves away from Wolves

Ethan Ebanks-Landell and Nathan Byrne have both finalised moves away from Wolves on transfer deadline day.

Academy graduate Ebanks-Landell has joined League One strugglers Sheffield United on a season-long loan deal, while Byrne has been sold to Championship rivals Wigan Athletic for £500,000.

Defender Ebanks-Landell, aged 23, made 25 appearances last season but broke his metatarsal in March and finds himself down the pecking order after Richard Stearman re-joined the club on loan.

Blades boss Chris Wilder said: "Ethan is a defender in the mould that we like. He's a communicator and aggressive and has Championship experience.

"It has been widely reported that we have been after a right-sided central defender to add cover and competition and Ethan is another who has been on our radar for quite some time."

Ebanks-Landell could make his debut for United in Sunday's televised encounter at Gillingham.

He was sent off for Wolves U23s at Chesterfield last night but the suspension only counts in the EFL Trophy.

Meanwhile Byrne departs Molineux just a year after signing from Swindon for £1m.

The 24-year-old winger made 24 appearances in Wolves colours - with 14 of those from the bench - and scored two goals.

He joins ex-team mate Adam Le Fondre, who has signed for Wigan on loan, while another former Wolves man Michael Jacobs is also with the Latics.

Wigan boss Gary Caldwell said of Byrne: "We have been tracking Nathan for a long time and we tried to sign him last season before he went to Wolves.

"When we found he was available now, we worked hard to make it happen.

"He's exactly the sort of player we want at the club, young, dynamic, ambitious and he will fit in very well here.

"He is something we haven't really got in the squad, and adds to an area where we have struggled recently with injuries and needed strengthening.

"Our fans will like him, he has pace, intelligence and strength."

James Henry is also expected to leave the club on loan to either Bolton or Charlton before tonight's 11pm transfer deadline.
