The 28-year-old is currently 'formalising the terms' of his Atletico exit.

It was reported recently that the Portuguese international had signed a contract extension to 2017.

However Wolves hope to sign the former Benfica loanee on a permanent deal in the coming days.

The player has already begun training at Compton Park with his potential new team mates and Wolves are confident of the deal going through.

A move for 24-year-old defensive midfielder Pele, though, looks to have hit the buffers.

As reported in the Express & Star, the ex-AC Milan player is exploring other options.

Wolves said today: "Wolves are also close to concluding a deal with Atletico Madrid to bring in Portuguese international defender Silvio on a permanent deal.

"A deal is in place subject to Silvio formalising the terms of his departure with Atletico Madrid.

"As widely reported, Wolves have also held talks with the representatives of Benfica midfielder Pele.

"However, the player has other options to consider and he is unlikely to be joining the club."
