Wolves have identified Icelandic international Johann Gudmundsson as a possible replacement for Bakary Sako as the search for his replacement hots up.
And out-of-favour striker Björn Sigurðarson could move the other way in a shock swap deal.
Bosses at Molineux will be keen to move quickly to finalise a deal for a new left-winger and Guðmundsson is on their radar.
The 24-year-old has been a big hit at Charlton after joining on a free transfer from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar last summer.
Guðmundsson chipped in with 11 goals – including the club's goal of the season – as he settled well in English football.
He has also been linked with Hull City, can play on either flank and is a set-piece specialist – so much so he was dubbed 'Charlton's David Beckham' by boss Guy Luzon.
It is believed a bid of around £2million could prise Guðmundsson away from the London club as he has 12 months left on his current deal. Fellow Icelander Sigurðarson is being sounded out as a possible makeweight in the deal, reports suggest.
He has struggled to make an impact with Wolves and spent last season on loan.
Speculation surrounding Sako's next destination rumbles on, with Everton and Leicester the latest clubs rumoured to be offering him a contract.
Meanwhile, Wolves have begun advertising for a new chief talent-spotter after Stuart Webber's departure earlier this week.
The new recruit must have four years' experience in football and be able to 'review, evaluate, construct and develop a scouting system for the club'.
