Kenny Jackett bemused by Wolves response

Frustrated Kenny Jackett today criticised Wolves for their poor response in last night's 3-1 defeat to Huddersfield – as Lee Evans became their latest casualty.

Jackett's side missed out on the chance to go top of the Championship, as they lost their 16-match unbeaten home record stretching back to December 14.

Midfielder Evans looks certain to miss Saturday's visit of Wigan after coming off with a tight hamstring after 42 minutes – which could also put his place in the full Wales squad in jeopardy after his first call-up.

First-half strikes from Harry Bunn and Sean Scannell then Conor Coady's wonder strike left the home side with a mountain to climb after the recalled Sam Ricketts hit the post.

Bakary Sako's fourth goal of the season in the 71st minute promised hopes of a comeback but it never materialised.

And Jackett was irritated at the response from his side as they conceded three for the second game in a row.

"We looked shellshocked and we looked stunned and we didn't play in the same way," said the boss.

"We conceded one then we conceded a second and I was disappointed with the response to those goals.

"We started well, had chances and hit the post and looked in control.

"Whether it was a foul (on Richard Stearman by Grant Holt) is irrelevant – they were 1-0 up and then 2-0 up and I was disappointed with our attitude.

"I was looking for a better reaction from our side because it took us too long to get back into the game.

"We had some combination play through Leon Clarke and Bakary Sako with some decent play and crosses.

"But it took us too long - until the last 15 to 20 minutes for us to get back into it."

Of Evans, Jackett said: "He hasn't pulled it but it's not the sort of thing that clears up in a day or two."
