Jack Price won't be loaned out by Wolves

Midfielder Jack Price was today told he must stay and fight for his place at Wolves.

Despite the 20-year-old not making the matchday squad for the last three Championship matches, head coach Kenny Jackett will not consider loaning him out at present.

Price's only appearance to date was in the Capital One Cup defeat to Northampton.

He's behind Kevin McDonald, David Edwards, Lee Evans and Michael Jacobs in the pecking order and now faces further competition from Tommy Rowe and new signing George Saville.

But Jackett says it is too early to consider a loan move and has told Price to keep pushing for a place.

"He is competing for places," said Jackett. "He hasn't had a (League) game yet, he hasn't had a start yet but I've picked the same side and we've won three out of four.

"If we can stay injury free and keep winning three out of four then I'll be very, very happy with that.

"The players out of the side will have to be patient and wait for their turn but what they do know is it is the start of a long season, it is competitive and their challenge - Jack is exactly the same - is making sure they are ready when they do get called upon.

"Is it too early to say a loan move might be on the cards for Jack? Yes it is too early. It's competitive and so it should be."

Wolves said goodbye to another member of 'group three' yesterday after Tongo Doumbia joined Toulouse for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old French midfielder becomes the second outcast to leave Molineux in the space of 24 hours following last night's release of Jamie O'Hara.

After initially signing for Wolves on a year's loan from Rennes in July 2012, Doumbia penned a permanent four-year deal just three months later.

During his time at Molineux the Mali international made 35 appearances in all competitions for Wolves and scored two goals.

But he was one of several players deemed surplus to requirements by Jackett and after spending last season back on loan with Valenciennes, his return to France has now been made permanent.

Meanwhile, reports in Yorkshire claim Huddersfield Town have rejected Wolves' approach to take winger Danny Ward on a free transfer.
