Wolves may loan a new goalkeeper as cover

Wolves may enter the loan market for a goalkeeper as boss Dean Saunders insisted the team will continue to play out from the back despite Carl Ikeme's howler.

Saunders has recalled Aaron McCarey from his loan at Walsall as potential cover for Dorus De Vries. The former Swansea shot-stopper looks set to play the last eight games because of Ikeme's broken hand.

He sustained that punching the tactics board after allowing David Davis' back-pass to squirm through him for Bristol City's opener in the 2-1 win on Saturday.

But Saunders may seek experienced goalkeeping cover, with 21-year-old McCarey not having been tried at Championship level.

And with Bakary Sako and Dave Edwards facing missing the rest of the season with a respective torn hamstring and a hairline fracture in a fifth metatarsal, Saunders' loan search may now include a goalkeeper.

"We're looking to do something, especially with the three injuries," he said."I might have to look at the goalkeeping situation as well."

Saunders wants Wolves to continue playing out from the back. "I don't want the team to just boot the ball up the pitch," he said.

"When we get the ball, we try to play it, but you don't expect that type of mistake."
