Wolves 'fan' Mike Tyson was today handed a light-hearted invite to join the club's survival battle to add some fight.

The former world heavyweight boxing champion said yesterday how he would like to watch Wolves after being alerted to boss Dean Saunders' quotes comparing the team's decline to Tyson's fall from grace in the 1990s.

And Saunders joked that the feared 'Baddest Man on the Planet' could help the team out in the bruising Championship.

"He'd be alright at marking at setplays and he'd get on the end of some of our free kicks too!" joked Saunders. "I'm told he's a Wolves fan apparently and that he's happy with me as the manager so I'll accept that."

Tyson's former sparring partner, Birmingham's Joe Egan, told the American about Saunders' quotes.

And 46-year-old 'Iron Mike' was quick to show an interest in Wolves' plight, seeing the parallels with his own struggles.

"He's right. I went from the best in the world to a very bad place," said Tyson.

"I don't know that much about football but it sounds like Wolverhampton have a manager who can turn the team around.

"Joe is going to let me know how they get on."
