Wolves boss: Time to cash in on Sako threat

Wolves were today urged to show a ruthless streak to make more of Bakary Sako's sizzling set-piece threat when they return from the international break.

The £3m signing from St Etienne has scored four goals so far while his corners have set up three more against Leicester and Ipswich.

Boss Stale Solbakken believes the team can cash in more on the French winger's corners and free-kicks.

"With our own set-pieces, obviously with Sako, we should do more about it," said Solbakken.

"We should score more goals on set-pieces in the coming months because the delivery is very good.

"We should gamble a little bit. We should be thinking 'when it comes in my zone it's a goal'. His delivery is very consistent."

Solbakken is aware Championship defences will have identified Sako as a main threat but believes the opposition will be playing into Wolves' hands by trying to shut him out of games.

"That's come already," said the boss, when asked if Sako had been targeted.

"That's a big advantage if they do that because then they play to our strengths and if they go that far it would be very good.

Solbakken, meanwhile, is hoping Kevin Doyle will be fit to return to action after the international break at Huddersfield on October 20.

The striker is nursing a thigh injury and was forced to miss out on the Ireland squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Germany, tromorrow and the Faroe Islands on Tuesday.

"I don't think Kevin Doyle's injury is too bad. We'll have to wait and see but Huddersfield is a possibility," said Solbakken.

"Of course we want him back but he's not our biggest injury concern – he's maybe going to take 14 days."
