Stale wants Kevin Doyle to become 'Mr Nasty'
Kevin Doyle was today told to become 'Mr Nasty' to fire the goals to keep Wolves in the promotion hunt.
The Molineux vice-captain was man of the match for the four wins in a row before Tuesday's 2-1 setback to Crystal Palace.
But he only has one goal to show for his efforts at club level this season, a strike in the 1-1 draw against Derby, while he has grabbed two more on international duty for Ireland.
Doyle hit the bar in the second half of the Palace game, while another two shots were blocked.
And manager Stale Solbakken wants the £6.5m striker to become more selfish and demanding of his team-mates to become more dangerous in front of goal to build on his modest tally of 19 goals in 102 league games for Wolves.
"Kevin has proved he can play very well at international level," said Solbakken. "His workrate is tremendous and he always plays for the team rather than himself.
"But maybe he should be more selfish sometimes.
"He should maybe demand something more from his team-mates – he's too nice sometimes."
Doyle believes it's no surprise to see the team so high in the table, given the fact most of the players have played in the Premier League for the last three years after being promoted from the Championship.
"There have been a lot of changes but we've still got the bulk of the team who were promoted before and played in the Premier League for a few years," he said.
"So it shouldn't surprise people we're up there because we want to get promoted, although there's a very long way to go."
