The former West Ham striker's double came in the 30th and 40th minutes sandwiched in between Jack Price's 33rd-minute strike.

Kevin Foley played the first half after appearing in the 18 for the first time this season in Sunday's 2-1 win over Leicester.

There was a worry for Wolves in the opening stages, however, after centre-back Jamie Tank went down after making a clearance with no player near him. It soon became clear he couldn't continue and after treatment he was replaced by Ethan Ebanks-Landell in the 10th minute.

The early Wolves substitute was the first to be denied by Palace keeper Ross Fitzsimons, who saved his header and one from Sam Winnall, both from Zeli Ismail corners, before he smothered David Davis' volley from Ismail's third flag kick.

Winnall set up Nouble to open his account, as he squeezed a shot in from a tight angle after rounding the keeper.

Price doubled Wolves' lead when he chipped home after racing into the box.

But within two minutes Ibra Sekajja halved the deficit with a low shot from just inside the box after getting too much space. Wolves restored their two-goal cushion in fortuitous circumstances as Fitzsimons failed to stop Nouble's centre going over the line.
