Kevin Doyle issues rallying call

Kevin Doyle today called for Wolves players to "live right" and pull together to launch a final bid to stay up.

Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Blackburn and Bolton's 2-1 win over QPR left Wolves second bottom but still only a point from safety with 10 games left, with champions Manchester United at home this Sunday.

Last week was dominated by news that captain Roger Johnson had been fined for turning up the worse for wear to train last Monday.

And although Doyle didn't mention Johnson, he called on everyone to give themselves the best possible chance of survival.

"We need to do everything right – work hard, live right, eat right, sleep right to keep ourselves in this division because we need everyone – players who aren't starting, players who are subs - fans, everyone with us for the last 10 games," said Doyle.

"It's very difficult but we've been in this position for a while – we're battle-hardened and 90 per cent of the players have been here before.

"We need to remember what we did last year and the year before to get ourselves out of it."

Doyle also revealed that manager Terry Connor gave an uplifting speech in the dressing room afterwards to try to convince the players they can stay up.

"There is definitely enough belief in that dressing room and the manager gave a very uplifting speech afterwards along those lines," said the Ireland international.

"We can't afford to throw our toys out of the pram because our situation is too important.The manager has basically said we've got 10 games to go and we can fall out with each other and never win a game again or work hard and do everything right and win this week."

Doyle retains the belief that Wolves can stay up.

"I do. We're not five points adrift at the bottom; all the teams down there are very close to each other," he said.

"We need a win, and if we don't beat Man United this week, then we go again and we go to Norwich and hopefully we'll win there."
