Adam Hammill chasing Anfield dream

Wolves winger Adam Hammill returns to Anfield chasing a milestone and a lifetime's ambition.

An FA Youth Cup winner with Liverpool, the lifelong Reds fan has never played at Anfield in a first-team game – and tomorrow would be his 150th League appearance.

In three years at Anfield, Hammill played 65 games – but none for the Reds, after loan spells at Dunfermline, Southampton, Blackpool and Barnsley, whom he eventually signed for permanently.

And the 23-year-old, who scored his first Wolves goal in Tuesday's 5-0 Carling Cup win over Millwall, wants to step on the hallowed turf – to prove he's a Premier League player.

Hammill said: "I've played at Anfield in the Youth Cup but not in a senior game. To feature in a game there would mean so much to me.

"It's not about proving anything to Liverpool but aiming to show I'm ready to start games here."

The Scouser still follows the fortunes of Liverpool but his loyalties are very much in the gold and black camp now.

He said: "I go up to watch Liverpool when I can. But they have to be second now to Wolves, which is my priority. It's strange because I'll have friends and family in both ends.

"They will be cheering both teams on but there's only one team I want to win – Wolves."
