Sam Johnstone

Left so exposed by his defence in that gruesome first half. Powerless to prevent either goal, and made several important saves to help stem the tide.

Exposed 6

Semi Ajayi

Like all the defence, struggled in that opening spell, but didn’t shirk the physical tussles with Mitrovic. Also again a danger from set pieces in the opposition box.

Battle 5

Kyle Bartley

Albion need goals from any source and Bartley followed Ajayi’s example by getting on the scoresheet. A lovely finish as well. And nearly grabbed another. Defensively improved when Albion switched to a four.

Goalscorer 6

Dara O’Shea

Could have got closer to Mitrovic as he teed up Fulham’s opener. Was the fall guy of the back three with the early tactical change.

Subbed 4

Darnell Furlong

Another to struggle in the first half as Fulham carved Albion open down the sides. But also stuck to it and helped the Baggies get forward more after the break.

Improved 5

Conor Gallagher

Flashes of skill and was always ready to battle on his recall to the team. Couple of storming runs down the right-hand side in the second half as Albion upped their intensity. Should have done better to track Cavaleiro for Fulham’s leveller.

Lost his man 5

Jake Livermore

The midfield had no control of anything in the first half. But, like everyone, the captain had more of an impact in the second period and his pressing up the pitch helped set up the second goal.

Pressed 5

Kieran Gibbs

Dragged infield to leave a huge space for Fulham’s first and was regularly undone as no-one seemed to know who was picking up Reid. Settled more as Albion switched to a four, and also got forward to set up their only chance of the first half.

Struggled 4

Matheus Pereira

A couple of dangerous corners aside, was just not in the game first half. Second half? A completely different story. Got on the ball, had plenty of joy, made Albion tick and grabbed his fifth goal in five games.

Turnaround 7

Robert Snodgrass

Played more centrally and was well involved in the second-half revival. Has the steel and knowhow which could prove crucial if Albion can get any sort of survival bid going.

Knowhow 6

Callum Robinson

Ploughed a lone furrow with plenty of willpower and never gave up, but had nothing to feed off before being withdrawn at half-time for the second successive game. Would benefit if allowed to operate in some capacity around a big man such as Diagne.

Substitutes

Karlan Grant (for O’Shea, 24) 6. A lively presence.

Mbaye Diagne (for Robinson, 45) 7. What an introduction! Gave Albion a focal point and put himself about well having only arrived in the country the night before. Assist for the second goal with a fine low cross. Promising.

Matt Phillips (for Livermore, 83) N/A.

Subs not used: Button, Townsend, Peltier, Ivanovic, Sawyers, Robson-Kanu.
