Bilic had to wait less than an month to accept a new challenge following his sacking the day after Albion's 1-1 draw with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

The 52-year-old has signed a two-year contract to replace Bruno Genesio, the Chinese Super League (CSL) club announced on Wednesday.

Beijing Guoan revealed they had decided not to renew the contract of Frenchman Genesio, who guided them to third in the CSL and the quarter-finals of the Asian Champions League.

“I am delighted to be given the opportunity to manage such a prestigious club in Beijing Guoan," said Bilic.

“They have a fantastic history in Chinese football and I hope to bring them further success.

“This is an exciting new chapter for me, working in one of the world’s most rapidly emerging leagues which already has so many formidable coaches.

“I cannot wait to meet my players and get started on this adventure.”

The club added: “We are honored to announce a two-year contract with our new first team coach Mr. Slaven Bilić and his coaching team. Welcome to Beijing.”

Bilic's compatriot and former Royal Antwerp coach Ivan Leko was named the new head coach of former CSL champions Shanghai SIPG last week.
