The Croatian signed a two-year deal at The Hawthorns at the beginning of the 2019/20 campaign with the aim of getting the club promoted within two years.

Bilic achieved that a season ahead of schedule – with the promotion becoming even more important due to the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic.

But he takes his team to Manchester City tonight with his future appearing to be up in the air.

Albion have won just one league game all season with that leading to speculation he could be replaced in The Hawthorns hot seat. But the Croatian still has a lot of support amongst fans who point to the job he did last season and the fact he only had an initial transfer budget of £20million over the summer.

Bilic has revealed, though, he has held no talks with the club’s hierarchy about extending his Baggies stay.

But he also confirmed he hasn’t pushed for any, with the boss instead insisting both he and the board are happy to see how the current campaign unfolds.

“No, but we knew that from the start of the season as we spoke about it briefly before the start of the season,” Bilic said when asked if there has been any talks over a new deal.

“I was happy with the situation and we said we were going to concentrate on the season and that’s it, basically.

“I’m not pushing. For me, this situation wouldn’t change anything if I had one, two three or four years to go, no.

This situation, I knew it since last year, so I didn’t want to force any talks then, not to mention now. I’m happy with it.”

Asked if Albion staying in the Premier League is morning important than his future, Bilic said: “Definitely. It’s not because we have six points.

“This was my stance in August, September, when I was in a position to demand whatever and I didn’t.”
