Player Ratings

In a clash that had a real chance of being called off with heavy rain and gale force winds battering the country, goals from Filip Krovinovic and Dara O’Shea saw the Baggies secure a convincing and deserved win in the Capital.

Here we rate the players following a very impressive display at the The Den:

SAM JOHNSTONE

An excellent showing from the glovesman who did absolutely everything asked of him. Millwall’s only real threat came from set-plays – but whether it was punching clear crosses or dealing with shots from distance, Johnstone excelled. His kicking was also top notch - 8

DARA O’SHEA

The youngster will always remember this game after he netted his first Albion goal. But this was hands down O’Shea’s best all-round performance since breaking into the first team. A rock defensively, he also used the ball intelligently with his passing excellent - 9

KYLE BARTLEY

When Millwall did ask questions, Bartley was always in the right place to answer them. The centre-back made two outstanding blocks in the first half to prevent Matt Smith from getting shots away. He also seemed to get on the end of any hopeful ball the hosts pumped forward - 8

SEMI AJAYI

The centre-back looked back to his best against Luton last weekend. And Ajayi built on that performance here with another assured display. A touch unfortunate not to win a penalty early on when he seemingly had his shirt pulled as he met a corner - 8

CONOR TOWNSEND

He has his doubters but performances like this will go a long way to silencing the critics. Solid defensively, Townsend’s positioning was excellent all afternoon. But he also offered an attacking threat down the left, combining well with Callum Robinson - 8

ROMAINE SAWYERS

As always, Sawyers kept Albion ticking over by recycling possession and hardly ever misplacing a pass. He still isn’t dominating games in the way he was earlier in the campaign. Nevertheless, he is still making a very telling contribution - 7

JAKE LIVERMORE

Albion’s wins against Luton and Millwall have arrived because they have been physical, energetic and because they won countless second balls. Livermore is the main reason for that with the skipper’s outstanding combative displays integral to his team’s upturn in form - 9

MATHEUS PEREIRA

Deployed on the right, Pereira showed just what Albion have been missing during his three-game ban. The Brazilian played a number of defence-splitting balls while Millwall’s players had no answer to his flicks and tricks. Almost scored only to be denied by the post - 8

FILIP KROVINOVIC

An intriguing tactical switch saw Krovinovic moved into central midfield alongside Livermore and Sawyers. And the Croatian went on to excel in the role. He battled well, his passing was excellent and he also scored a wonderful goal to set his team on the path to victory - 8

CALLUM ROBINSON

Another impressive showing from the Sheffield United loanee who has settled into life at The Hawthorns seamlessly. Robinson carried the ball well, proved to be a threat from distance and also linked up well with Pereira and Robson-Kanu in an impressive display - 7

HAL ROBSON-KANU

The Welsh forward missed an absolute sitter. Nevertheless, Robson-Kanu still shone as Albion’s lone striker. A great foil for his team-mates, the 30-year-old is so good at dropping deep and bringing others into play. But he was also a threat in behind here - 8

SUBS: Kamil Grosicki (Robinson 66), Matt Phillips (Pereira 76), Charlie Austin (Robson-Kanu 90). Not used: Bond, Hegazi, Furlong, Harper.

REF: Gavin Ward - A very impressive display from the Surrey-based official who managed the game well in tough conditions.
