Danilo Butorovic believes the way to get the best out of star man Matheus Pereira is to let him play his natural game.

Albion’s assistant manager has been as impressed as anyone at Albion with the way the Brazilian flair player has adapted to life in the Championship.

And Butorovic revealed he doesn’t need to say much to Pereira to get him firing.

He said: “I can see what he does well, but he doesn’t need a lot of advice, does he? He is a natural, definitely.

“You get loads of players who just keep you on your toes.

“Many times I watch games afterwards and someone has the ball away and I pause it and think, ‘What’s the best thing he could do here?’

“But I press play and he does something even better.”

Pereira has impressed on the ball in the number 10 role, behind Albion’s loan front man, and added goals to his game with strikes against QPR and Cardiff in the last fortnight.

But some of the things he does on the pitch makes Butorovic want to watch them again and again.

“We have a couple of those guys who are really amazing with the ball,” added the assistant manager. “It has happened so many times where I am watching a game and then I pause it and go back because I just ‘I’ve got to see that again’. It was good.

“And that is what I keep telling them as well – do what you guys do well because when they play their game I think we are one of the best teams.”

As well as his skills on the pitch, Pereira has impressed with his work-rate on and off it as well.

“He is the same as what you see in the games,” added Butorovic. “Maybe it is a bit unparticular for a Brazilian player.

“He really, really, really likes to work hard not just with the ball but without the ball as well.

“He is really positive all the time, he wants to help other players be better.

“He is a real number 10, definitely – there are not many of those guys left.”
