The Baggies travel to Elland Road on Tuesday, October 1, for the clash which will be broadcast live on Sky.

But despite the evening kick-off and the fact it is being shown on TV, Leeds have awarded the game ‘category one’ status meaning adult away fans will be charged £39 to get in.

That makes it the most expensive away day in the Championship.

And Homer has called for the second-tier to move in line with the Premier League where travelling fans’ tickets are capped at a maximum of £30.

“It’s wrong that Leeds are trying to fleece Albion fans – £39 for a ticket is too much,” Homer said.

“The EFL need to look at this and follow the Premier League’s example by introducing a cap on away tickets.

“It’s the fans who suffering because they want to go to the games.

“But for Leeds it’s double your money, they charge huge prices and get the television money as well.

“For supporters, it’s not just the price of the ticket, it’s also food and travel fans have to fork out for.

“With it being an evening game some people will have lost money by booking time off work.

“But Leeds win either away, they either get the ticket money or less Albion fans travel a ground where they are really needed.”

Ticket prices at Elland Road have long been a source of frustration for fans of Championship clubs.

Last season, Albion’s players paid for coaches for supporters who made the trip to West Yorkshire.

And Baggies again expressed their anger when the price for this season’s clash was confirmed yesterday.

Supporter Emma Iannarilli said: “There’s absolutely no need for that price, especially for a week night on the TV. It’s just greed.”

Tom Bettam said: I am a season ticket holder living in Sheffield and go 6-8 away a year but I can’t justify £39 mid-week when it is on Sky.

“Did it last year not again. It’s poor view as well. They class it as on the side but it’s in the corner really.”

Richard Downing added: “Will pay it as attend all of our home and away games.

“But disgraceful they can get away with charging such high prices.

“If it was up to me would charge their fans when they come to the Albion the same price.

“Wouldn’t mind but Elland Road is not exactly the Ethiad or the Emirates.”
