Boaz Myhill has returned to Albion in a coaching capacity – just two months after leaving the Baggies.

The 36-year-old, who made 85 appearances across nine years at Albion, has become their professional phase development goalkeeping coach.

He replaces Mark Naylor, who moved to West Midlands rivals Villa last month.

“From the moment Gary Walsh mentioned it to me I didn’t hesitate for a moment,” said Myhill. “It was something I had always wanted to do but I didn’t think the opportunity would ever arise here because Mark Naylor had been here so long and didn’t ever look like moving on.

“But it is so refreshing and I’m loving every minute of it. As a player, you end up with the same 25 or 26 guys in the same dressing room with the same coach as your working day.

“One of the most interesting things is that in this post I am working with keepers from all age groups at the stadium, the Academy or the training ground and it’s giving me a great variety of challenges.

“This is something I have always wanted to take on and I’m thrilled to have this opportunity.”
