The 21-year-old attacking midfielder made 21 appearances for the Hammers last season.

Derby County were interested in signing him on loan before head coach Slaven Bilic called up his former club and persuaded them to send him to The Hawthorns.

A versatile attacker, Diangana is capable of playing on either wing and will provide competition for Matt Phillips and Kyle Edwards.

He is just the first of several deadline day signings the Baggies are expected to make today.

Albion are also set to seal a loan move for Sporting winger Matheus Pereira and a permanent deal for Southampton striker Charlie Austin.

Benfica forward Chris Willock, who came through Arsenal's academy, is also expected to join the Baggies before the 5pm deadline.

Technical director Luke Dowling said: “Grady comes with good Premier League experience but he’s now at this early stage of his career where he needs to get good, regular game time.

“He is direct with his running, has good ability and will be another exciting addition to our squad.”
