The Baggies reportedly had a bid rejected for the 27-year-old, who began his career at The Hawthorns before leaving in 2013 for Walsall.

He went on to make his name at Walsall under Dean Smith, who signed the midfielder at Griffin Park after he made the move to te London club.

Sawyers made 46 appearances for Brentford last season, notching seven assists. He's totalled 19 goals from 161 appearances since joining in 2016.

Should he complete his move, he'll become Albion's fifth signing of the summer, following Filip Krovinovic, Kenneth Zohore, Darnell Furlong and Semi Ajayi into the club.

Celtic were also reportedly keen on a move, but Sawyers now appears set to head back to the West Midlands.
