New-boy Kenneth Zohore says the belief shown in him by Albion boss Slaven Bilic made joining the Baggies an 'easy decision'.

The 25-year-old striker has been brought in by Bilic for a fee of up to £8million from Cardiff, on a four-year deal.

And he cannot wait to get going at The Hawthorns after hugely positive talks with Albion's Croatian chief.

"I'm excited. Obviously, it's a big club. I was just looking forward to coming here, so hopefully it goes well," said Zohore, who came off the bench in Saturday's 4-0 win at Scunthorpe.

"Slaven believes in me and thinks that I'm a good fit for the team.

"I came here because I wanted to play good football, and that's the style that Slaven told me about.

"They wanted me, I could see it and hear it when I spoke to them, so it was easy to make a decision.

"That means everything, especially as a striker. Having someone believing in you, it's a great thing."

The fee for Zohore will rise to £8m if he reaches a set number of appearances, a set number of goals and helps the club win promotion back to the top flight.

The Danish striker only netted once in the Premier League for the Bluebirds last season, but scored 21 goals across two Championship seasons before that.

And on if he has a set number he wants to get this term, Zohore said: "No, because assists are still good.

"I'm just going to try to help us win. If somebody else scores, I'll be just happy as if I scored myself.

Zohore joined Cardiff in 2016 from KV Kortrijk, and was a key part of Neil Warnock’s promotion-winning side in the 2017/18 season – scoring nine goals and registering five assists.

He has taken the No.9 shirt at Albion, which was worn by Salomon Rondon during his time with the club.

Rondon left last week to work under Rafa Benitez, who he impressed greatly under on loan at Newcastle last term, again at Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang.

The Baggies are understood to have received the full £16.5m release clause for the Venezuelan.

Zohore is not looking to emulate what Rondon did in an Albion shirt though. He wants to carve out his own legacy.

"I'm going to be myself and do my own thing," added Zohore.

"He's a good player, but I think I'm a good player, so we'll see what happens."
