Dawson travelled down for talks and a medical with the Premier League club over the weekend ahead of proposed move.

He is now likely to join the Hornets, who also tried to sign him last summer.

Albion rejected all offers for Dawson last year, when he handed in a transfer request to try and force a move.

However, the 29-year-old only has one year left on his contract, and the Baggies are now willing to cash in.

Slaven Bilic is keen to replace him as soon as possible, with a loan deal for West Ham's versatile youngster Reece Oxford a potential addition.

Dawson first joined Albion in 2010 from Rochdale in a deal worth £400,000, before heading back to Dale on loan.

He has since made 225 appearances for the Baggies, the majority of which came in the Premier League, scoring 15 goals.

Albion will also sell Salomon Rondon this summer, because he only has one year left on his contract.

Matt Phillips and Allan Nyom are also out of contract next summer.
