Normally nailed on to start for Egypt during their international fixtures, Albion's centre-back was rested for his nation's 1-1 draw with Niger before being allowed to miss the country's upcoming friendly with Nigeria.

The same is the case for Liverpool star Mo Salah and Aston Villa wing-back Ahmed Elmohamady, who have all been allowed to return to their clubs to focus on their domestic responsibilities as the Egyptians try out some other players.

Egypt had already qualified for the tournament, which takes place in Hegazi's homeland this summer - but would have topped their group with a win.

Cameroon were originally selected as hosts, but Egypt replaced them - so they would have qualified regardless of their position in group J.

Former Albion loanee Ali Gabr played the entire 90 minutes of the game.

England U20:

Sam Field

Field could feature in their second game of the break against the Portuguese youngsters.

He was an unused substitute throughout the first two games of the competition (a 4-1 win over Japan and a 1-0 defeat to the Czech Republic).

He started and played the entire 90 minutes in the nation's final game of the week, a 3-2 win over Mexico, earning them the runners up spot in the competition.

He could feature in their final game of the break against Denmark too.

West Brom youngster Dara O'Shea featured as the Republic of Ireland U21s cruised past Luxembourg 3-0 in their first Euro 2021 U21 Championship qualifier.

O'Shea had little trouble throughout his debut at the age the U21 age group, in which the home nation could have won by more given the balance of chances.

The Irish top their group after the opener, with first place qualifying automatically.

Norway:

Stefan Johansen

Stefan Johansen (AMA)

Albion loanee Stefan Johansen started and skippered Norway as they gave Spain a scare in their Euro 2020 qualifying clash.

Spain were a goal to the good before Norway levelled from the spot, however a superb Sergio Ramos panenka penalty proved the difference as the Spaniards won 2-1.

Johansen was replaced by Ola Kamara in the second half, but could feature in the all-Scandinavian clash between Norway and Sweden.

Scotland:

Oli Burke

Oli Burke won't remember this international break fondly.

On-loan Albion forward Oli Burke won't have enjoyed his international exploits all that much - as he played all 90 minutes of Scotland's embarrassing 3-0 defeat in Kazakhstan, before sitting out the 2-0 win in San Marino as an unused substitute.

The Scots were heavily criticised for their showing against Kazakhstan but did improve against San Marino, albeit winning just 2-0 against the minnows.

Burke was utilised on the left wing in the first game - proving a slight shift from his recent role as a central striker for Celtic.

Wales U19:

Adam Przybek, Pablo Martinez

Two Albion youngsters earned call-ups for the Wales U19 side this month in the shape of goalkeeper Adam Przybek and Pablo Martinez.

The latter withdrew from the squad through injury, whilst Przybek was an unused substitute in the nation's Euro U19 qualifying clashes with Spain and the Netherlands.

Przybek could feature against Slovenia as the Welsh youngsters round off their break.
