The Baggies beat QPR 3-2 after being pegged back twice by the Championship's out-of-form team.

But they moved to within one point of the top two ahead of crunch matches with Sheffield United and Leeds thanks to their eighth win in nine on the road.

"Better late than never!" said Moore. "It was tremendous spirit and character to keep going

"We got our just rewards. Having gone ahead twice and to be pegged back twice, it was a bit harsh.

"We showed great discipline, great team spirit, that kept us going. We've come a long way together as a team.

"I'm really pleased with the players for going all the way to the end. It was good to see Jake (Livermore) pop up in the last few seconds and get the important touch.

"It was a tough night and to score three goals away from home is difficult. We kept going and created chances.

"It shows the character of QPR, they pegged us back twice, but for our heads not to drop, that was the rewarding thing from the night.

"We came off the back of a difficult and emotional game at the weekend. To come and reset again, it was hard.

"QPR had an extra 24 hours and that makes a lot of difference. It was a joint effort tonight, together they dragged that out of the bag.

"We knew there was a lot to put in to tonight's game, it's just about recovering the team because we go again on Saturday (against Sheffield United). It's interesting because of where both teams are.

"They're difficult opponents, it bodes well for another interesting game."

Jefferson Montero opened the scoring five minutes in with his first touch, before Jacob Murphy scored his second goal in three games to make it 2-1. And Moore was pleased with the Swansea loanee's contribution.

"We're pleased, since signing him, we felt he needed some sessions, we've been trying to give him that," he said. "We thought tonight was the right night and he came up trumps and that will do him the world of good.

"He got into threatening positions, another couple of weeks he'll be going straight at opponents, he can feel happy"

There was also a welcome return to action for Matt Phillips after injury.

"I'm delighted to have Matty back," added Moore. "That will do him the world of good.

"We know what he gives us so to have him in and around the squad is really pleasing so hopefully he'll get stronger."
