The Baggies were beaten 3-1 after extra-time in an FA Cup fourth round replay on Wednesday by Premier League outfit Brighton.

But the Seagulls drew level in the 82nd minute through a goal from Florin Andone, who shouldn't have been on the pitch after elbowing Sam Field in the face.

He was later charged by the FA for violent conduct – and banned for three matches on Friday night – a decision which Moore says 'serves no purpose' to the Baggies.

VAR was in use for the original tie at the Amex Stadium, which finished goalless, but wasn't available for the replay.

"This is the thing," said Moore. "We all support it, but we just need to be consistent with these things. That’s the only thing I’d say.

"Incidents like these make things better and help things along quicker. All I’d say is let’s have consistency.

"To have it in the first game and not the second for whatever reason is beyond me."

Moore did not criticise referee Paul Tierney, because he also missed the elbow at the time.

"Even I didn’t see the incident at the time, but obviously we’ve seen replays now and the decision has been handled by the FA," said Moore. "It serves no purpose now because the fixture has been and gone.

"When you see the replays you can understand why he’s been charged. But we’ve got to move on.

"Those kind of things you don’t want to see. When these things do happen they need to be dealt with by the authorities and they have been.

"The main thing was that Sam wasn’t hurt and was able to carry on and participate."
