The Baggies have had wingers Jacob Murphy and Jefferson Montero at the training ground today, as well as Fulham central midfielder Stefan Johansen.

Darren Moore has been chasing Newcastle winger Murphy for the past week, but the North East side threw a spanner in the works earlier today when they attempted to use Albion’s interest in him to strike a deal for Salomon Rondon.

However, that deal proved to be too complicated and now a straight loan until the end of the season has been agreed.

The 23-year-old, who cost Newcastle £12million in the summer of 2017, is currently undergoing a medical in the West Midlands.

Swansea are allowing Montero to leave in order to get his wages off their books, and the 29-year-old has been in the Midlands today to finalise a deal.

Montero has not started a game for Swansea this season, but the Baggies are keen on his pace and trickery off the bench.

It’s believed Murphy will act as a replacement for Harvey Barnes, while Montero is filling the void left by Bakary Sako.

The Baggies are hopeful Johansen will also agree to a loan move from Fulham before 11pm.

The 28-year-old, who has only started four games in the Premier League this season, has been in the Midlands today.

He was a crucial cog in Fulham’s successful promotion campaign last season, and featured in 45 out of 46 league games for the Cottagers as well as all three play-off matches.

With all three players arriving on temporary deals, the number of loanees in Albion's squad will go up to six.

EFL clubs are allowed a total of eight loanees at any one time, but just five in the matchday squad. Dwight Gayle, Tosin Adarabioyo and Mason Holgate are the other three players currently on loan.
