Ally Robertson: Signings now needed as big month looms for West Brom

Scrolling down the fixture list, it appears February will make or break Albion’s season.

If you include the Leeds fixture on the first day of March, then Darren Moore’s men have seven league games in 28 days, and each opponent is relatively strong.

Which makes it even more important for the club to bring in new faces during the final week of the transfer window.

Bakary Sako is following Harvey Barnes and Oliver Burke out of the exit door, leaving the front line worryingly thin.

For my mind, Albion need to sign three players before Thursday’s deadline – two forwards and one midfielder.

The defence is looking increasingly solid, and Mason Holgate has impressed since his arrival earlier in the month.

Not only has he filled the gap at right-back, but he offers a dynamic presence on that wing that goes missing when Matt Phillips is injured.

Albion’s midfield injury crisis is beginning to concern, although Sam Field and Rekeem Harper deserve credit for their contribution against Bolton.

It may not have been the prettiest of games, but you can’t ask for much more than a victory and a clean sheet away from home.

At this stage of the season, it’s all about points rather than performance.

I was delighted to see Field score. Albion lost a little bit of their creative spark when Chris Brunt was forced off, but when was the last time you saw a central midfielder burst into the box like Sam did?

It might be time to give him a run of games in the side. He’s had to be patient this season, but until he gets regular games, we won’t fully know what he’s capable of.

Before this injury crisis, Field may have benefited from a loan away, but at the moment, I don’t think Albion can afford to lose any more bodies.

Jay Rodriguez also scored against Bolton, to take his tally up to 14 for the season, drawing him level with Dwight Gayle.

Their joint-interview on television after the game was one of the most encouraging things of the night.

You can visibly see the players are enjoying themselves this season, and that is so crucial.

Despite the gruelling month of league games looming, it's still important to take today's FA Cup clash in Brighton seriously.

It's going to be tough against Premier League opposition, but the away tie actually suits us.

If we don't let them score in the first half, the home crowd will grow frustrated, and we'll have a chance. Fingers crossed.
