PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor and chairman Ben Purkiss are on either side of a civil war brewing in the players’ union.

Dawn Astle – the daughter of Albion legend Jeff – has called for Taylor to be ousted because of a lack of funding directed towards dementia research and support.

And while Moore understands criticisms levied at Taylor and the organisation, he was also keen to allow the review to be carried out effectively.

“I totally understand where Dawn is at because she’s lost her father,” he said. “I understand where Dawn is coming from. But what I will say to Dawn is that there is a review going on and I think Dawn and the family members will wait and let that happen before passing further comment on the situation.”

He added: “There’s been a lot of talk so let’s see what the review finds – if there’s any shortfalls with the PFA then we can all pass comment on it.

“It’s the right thing to do and we should allow for that to happen and see what the outcome is.”

And Moore was also keen to stress the good work the PFA has done for him and football.

“Let’s not take away the good they have done,” said the Albion boss. “Let the review do its internal investigation and once the findings are out we can make comment.

“Let’s not all jump on the fact of he (Taylor) should go because they have done good some good stuff for the game.”

He added: “They’ve played a part in where I’m sitting today as a head coach at West Brom.

“I speak on behalf of myself in terms of the good the PFA have done.

“Also I can give an overview of the good work they’ve done for the professional game.

“While we might be talking about the wrongdoings, we should all allow the investigation and the process to happen.”
