The Baggies slumped to their third defeat in four games at the KCOM Stadium against the lowly Tigers, who started the day second from bottom.

Fraizer Campbell's goal seven minutes before half-time was enough to separate the teams as Albion's struggles in front of goal continued.

After scoring for fun near the start of the season they have now bagged just two goals in the last four games, a run which has seen them pick up a single point.

And Moore, who had given his side extra training sessions in the week leading up to the game, was not pleased.

"It was a disappointing performance," he said. "We dropped below the par we've set in recent weeks and months and it was a performance that I wasn't happy with.

"I'll look back over the video footage over the weekend which I'll always do and look at the performance as a whole.

"There were certain parts in certain areas of the pitch that just weren't there today for whatever reason, and that's the most disappointing thing.

"We got some good work in the players this week, we got some extra sessions in, but we understand what this league is.

"From our point of view, we didn't get anywhere near the levels we've set in recent months. And if you don't get to those levels you're not going to win football matches."

Despite sitting at the wrong end of the table, Hull City deserved their win against an Albion side that looked devoid of ideas.

"You have to give Hull credit as well, they were working hard," said Moore. "They got the goal from the set play and then sat back deep and didn't allow us to penetrate or move in many areas.

"They would have thought it was a well-worked team effort today.

"From our point of view, when the opportunities did come for us to move the ball wisely and cleverly, we didn't do it.

"We failed to spot those gaps, for whatever reason. We've seen the players perform at a higher level. I've got no excuses for it.

"We've got to get back to work on the training ground.

"We're disappointed, and when I say we I mean me as a head coach and the group of players.

"We've not got to the levels that we have set in recent weeks for West Bromwich Albion. While it hurts, you analyse the game and get back to work on Monday."

Albion were without star striker Dwight Gayle, veteran midfielder Gareth Barry and left wing-back Kieran Gibbs, who all missed the game through injury.

But Moore refused to use the injuries as an excuse for the performance.

"Dwight Gayle's a miss, Kieran Gibbs is a miss, Gareth Barry's a miss, but also we feel we've got a squad and a group of players that others should step in and perform," he said.

"Yes those are big players and key players but we've got a group who have set standards in recent weeks and today we didn't get to those standards."

Conor Townsend might have had a penalty in the first half when he was upended in the box by a clumsy challenge from Jarrod Bowen, but Moore did not wish to comment because he was yet to see a replay of the incident.

"I’ve not seen that," he said. "I’ve come out of the dressing room and come straight in here. Once I get back and have some time, I’ll have a look at it."
