Gayle suffered a calf injury during a collision with Scott Malone on Wednesday and was forced off at half-time with Kieran Gibbs, who jarred his hip making a covering slide tackle.

Gareth Barry (calf) and Ahmed Hegazi (hamstring strain) are also still doubts for the game.

"Dwight is the more doubtful one," admitted Moore. "He limped off at half-time following the incident when he went through on goal.

"His heel got caught. He tried to run it off but he couldn’t carry on second half. So he’s a doubt.

"We’ll assess Gibbs to see where he’s at. He’s another one who could be 50/50.

"When he sprinted back and made a sliding tackle he jarred something in his hip. We have to see how he is, as he tried to run it off it just tightened up on him.

"We’ll check on Ahmed as well and Gareth Barry. Those two are 50/50 too.

"I’ll be advised by the medical team today or tomorrow to see if any or all are fit. It’s part and parcel of the demands of the league."

Moore has only just welcomed Matt Phillips back from injury, but the Baggies now have a growing list of players on the treatment table.

However, Albion's head coach confirmed he would not rush anyone back and risk them being sidelined for longer.

"You can’t take the risks in this league, the games come that thick and fast," he said. "Even if you lose a player for two or three weeks because of the relentless demands of the league you could miss them for six games.

"Last year we were playing one game a week, here you could miss five or six games in two weeks. These are the things I take into consideration.

"You’re better off taking him out for one game and having him in for the next four or five than risking him for one game and having him out for the next four or five.

"What you’re like after game one and game three in a week is very different.

"Gareth Barry has a calf injury. He’s the same as Matty Phillips, he’s training but it was too risky. We’re just looking at each game.

"If the medical team give us a thumbs up, he’s available, if the medical team say he’s borderline I won’t risk him at all."
