The £15million forward has been given a special training regime by Darren Moore and his coaching staff in order to jolt his Baggies career into life.

Burke is beginning to show a lethal streak for Jamie Smith's under-23s, and was on the scoresheet once more last night in the first round tie.

After a goalless first half at Dales Lane, it didn’t take Albion long to take the lead after the restart when a break ended with the ball being threaded through to Jonathan Leko.

The 19-year-old, who scored his first senior goal for the Baggies in the Carabao Cup this season, curled home off the inside of the post.

The Baggies were well in control at the start of the second half and doubled their advantage with just over 20 minutes to go when Burke fired home at the near post.

A well-timed challenge from Orrin Pendley thwarted Burke as Albion looked to add to their lead but the third goal did arrive on 84 minutes when the visitors broke the offside trap and Joe Slinn conceded a penalty.

Callum Morton stepped up and found the back of the net to complete the victory.
