West Brom executive director Peter Band retires
Executive Director Peter Band has been removed from the Baggies board following his retirement.
Band has been at The Hawthorns for more than 11 years, and was a finance officer for eight-and-a-half years before he was promoted to finance director in September 2015.
A qualified chartered accountant from Sutton Coldfield, he was made executive director last year, but now into his 70s, he has decided to retire.
Lee Cooper, who joined the club in January 2016 and was made finance director in August 2017, has taken up his duties.
A qualified accountant, Cooper oversees all areas of finance.
Band’s retirement follows Richard Garlick’s departure from the club at the start of the season when he joined the Premier League in a newly-created role.
Garlick’s previously-held position of director of football administration was a unique one at the Baggies that evolved with him.
His duties have since been split between club secretary and general counsel Simon Carrington and new sporting and technical director Luke Dowling.
There are now just three men on the club’s official board of directors; club lawyer Carrington, chief executive Mark Jenkins and Chinese chairman Li Piyue.
Li is owner Guochuan Lai’s right-hand man.
