Darren Moore concedes Harvey Barnes recall decision is out of his hands

Darren Moore will try and convince Leicester to let Harvey Barnes see out his season-long loan – but realises the Foxes have every right to recall their player in January.

Barnes has started the season in electric form, and has been the creative catalyst for the Championship top scorers since being moved inside to a No.10 role.

Last season, Leicester recalled the 20-year-old from a season-long loan at Barnsley in January, and Foxes boss Claude Puel has admitted he could do so again.

Moore is keen to keep Barnes for the whole season, but acknowledges the decision is largely out of his hands.

“Harvey has had a great start with us and long may that continue,” said Moore. “He’s a Leicester player and only here on loan so I’m sure when the time comes around both clubs will have a chat.

"He’s their player so he (Claude Puel) has a right to speak about him. At this moment in time, let’s watch him develop.”

Barnes made 25 appearances for Barnsley in the first half of last season, but only played eight minutes in the Premier League after being recalled by Leicester.

“We will see,” said Puel, when asked if he might recall Barnes again. “Of course, I follow Barnes, I follow everyone on loan.

“It is important to look at their performance. We will see what happens in January.

“Harvey had some game-time last season. It was interesting. He came back in January with us. At the beginning of the season, he was not ready to remain with us.

“He wanted game-time to play and didn’t have the good focus with us. We will see in January and at the end of the season.”

Barnes has featured in all 10 of Albion's games this season, and has started all eight in the league.

He has three goals and three assists and won Quest TV's EFL Goal of the Month award for August.
