Jay Rodriguez, Craig Dawson, Nacer Chadli, Kieran Gibbs, Jake Livermore and Matt Phillips will not be joining top-tier sides following the passing of today's 5pm deadline.

They could still be snapped up by European clubs, who can do business until the end of the month, although Chadli is the player most likely to leave for that route.

Rodriguez, Phillips, Gibbs and Livermore have all featured in the first two games of the season, and keeping them at the club will please boss Darren Moore.

Burnley had a £16m bid for Rodriguez turned down last week while Watford tried to take Livermore on loan at the start of this week.

Dawson has not been seen on the pitch yet this season after he handed in a transfer request over summer and refused to go on Moore’s pre-season training camp to Portugal.

Moore is now tasked with re-integrating him and Chadli back into the squad, although neither are expected to start at Norwich City this weekend.

The Baggies had hoped to sign a right-back before the 5pm deadline and made a £3m bid for Rangers captain James Tavernier but it was rejected.

The Scottish giants wanted to take teenager Rekeem Harper on loan as a sweetener, but the 18-year-old midfielder has been named in Moore’s first two squads of the season and Albion decided to keep him.

The Baggies can still sign players on loan until August 31, and can include an obligation or option to make it permanent in the deal, which effectively means they can still sign players until the end of the month.

They are currently in talks with another right-back who they hope to sign over the weekend.

Moore played Manchester City loanee Tosin Adarabioyo out of position at full-back at Nottingham Forest after dropping Allan Nyom.

The Baggies have also received a number of loan offers for 20-year-old central midfielder Sam Field, who has not yet featured this season despite being fit.

However, Albion do not wish to loan him out at this stage.
