The Baggies had already knocked back a £25million combined offer from the Clarets for Rodriguez and Craig Dawson earlier in the summer.

Burnley have now returned with another bid for Rodriguez alone, yet it has again fallen well below Albion’s valuation and been rejected out of hand.

The Baggies are eager to hang on to the 29-year-old, who finished last season as top scorer with 11 goals.

It is understood they will not entertain bids of below £20million for a player who joined in an initial £12million deal from Southampton a year ago.

Rodriguez originally left Burnley for the Saints for a £7million fee six years ago. Clarets boss Sean Dyche must now decide whether to return with another, significantly improved offer before next week’s transfer deadline.
