Albion are closing in on a season-long loan swoop for Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes.

The 20-year-old’s signing is expected to be sealed in time for him to feature for the Baggies in Tuesday's pre-season friendly at Barnsley.

Barnes will become boss Darren Moore’s fourth capture of the transfer window and follows James McClean’s departure to Stoke on Sunday.

A product of Leicester’s academy, he has experience of the Championship having scored five goals during a loan spell at Barnsley last season.

He was recalled to the King Power Stadium by Foxes boss Claude Puel in January and made his Premier League debut in a 0-0 draw with Southampton in April.

Barnes will follow defender Kyle Bartley and goalkeepers Sam Johnstone and Jonathan Bond into The Hawthorns as Moore’s squad continues to take shape, with the league campaign now just 11 days away.

Plenty more movement is expected, both in and out, before the transfer window closes on August 9, with several players still eyeing potential moves back to the Premier League.

Defender Craig Dawson, who refused to attend the club’s training camp in Portugal and handed in a transfer request after the Baggies knocked back a bid from Burnley, is on course to make his first appearance of pre-season at Oakwell.
