Leicester triggered the £3million relegation release clause in Evans's contract after agreeing terms with the former Manchester United defender.

The 30-year-old is expected to complete a move to the King Power Stadium in the coming days.

Leicester had a £21m bid for Evans rejected last summer, when the defender was more eager to join Manchester City, who had their own £18m offer turned down.

But City have cooled their interest since signing Aymeric Laporte and Evans is now ready to join the Foxes this summer.

Rangers are eyeing up McAuley and have reportedly contacted the 38-year-old about moving north of the border.

McAuley is out of contract this summer, and will be available on a free transfer if he doesn’t sign a new Baggies contract.

Like many Albion players, his future at The Hawthorns is uncertain.

McAuley has no plans of retiring, and is keen to continue playing for both club and country for as long as possible.

Rangers director of football Mark Allen has reportedly contacted the centre-back, but new boss Steven Gerrard still needs to sanction the offer.

McAuley grew increasingly frustrated at The Hawthorns last season over his lack of game time in a failing team, and is keen to get first-team football next season.

Albion’s defensive options are dwindling and head coach Darren Moore is expected to bolster that area this summer.

He ended the season with Ahmed Hegazi and Craig Dawson as his centre-back pairing, but there is also interest in Dawson from Premier League clubs. Burnley are weighing up a bid.

Albion have an option to buy Egyptian loanee Ali Gabr for £1.1m this summer to add another body to their backline.
