All of Albion’s players want Darren Moore to be given the full-time job, according to club captain Jonny Evans.

Moore has given the Baggies an outside chance of staying up with a remarkable five-match unbeaten run that has included wins over Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur.

And Evans, who has been restricted to substitute appearances under the caretaker, says every player in the squad wants the caretaker boss to be installed permanently.

“He’s a fantastic person and I think all the players at this moment in time would like to see him keep the job,” Evans told the BBC at the Northern Ireland Football Awards.

“But the club could go a different direction and us as players will have to accept whatever decision they’re going to make.”

Evans is expected to leave this summer following two transfer windows of speculation over his future, and he’s endured a tough few months at the Baggies.

He’s been booed at The Hawthorns in recent weeks after he was named as one of the four senior players who allegedly stole a taxi in Barcelona – although he was part of the squad that was applauded during the lap of appreciation at the weekend.

He could leave for as little as £3m if the Baggies are relegated but the club captain insists he will not think about his future until the season is over.

“I haven’t thought that far ahead really.” he added. “For me, the most important thing is to try and stay in the league with West Brom and see where that takes us.

"You could say that everyone had written us off and accepted relegation, maybe the players had [too], and Darren Moore has come in and he's been fantastic.

"I don't think he ever expected that we'd be back in this position but we are and it's a credit to everyone that we were able to do that and come the weekend, hopefully we're in the position where we can rectify the wrongs that we've done this season."
