West Brom blog: Simplicity has been key for Albion

Darren Moore’s back-to- basics approach at West Brom has paid dividends so far.

Four games. Two wins, two draws. Five goals scored, three conceded, writes Baggies blogger, Nathan Carr.

It’s some impact that ‘Big Dave’ has had since taking charge at the beginning of April.

A big part of the side’s upturn in form under Moore has been the simple approach to games and a focus on the fundamentals.

Indeed, there hasn’t been anything particularly complicated about what Moore has done tactically.

The key has been implementing a clear gameplan and giving the team an identity, which definitely didn’t happen under Alan Pardew, with each player expected to carry out their individual roles on the pitch.

We saw that in abundance in the victories at Old Trafford and St. James’ Park – the team was brilliantly organised, and we defended so well.

That simplicity is what the players needed after such a poor run of form.

We had lost our way and the back-to- basics approach has revitalised the players.

Moore and his coaching staff must take credit for that.
