West Brom blog: Pride is the name of the game

The final four games of the season are all about pride and professionalism, writes Baggies blogger Nathan Carr.

Barring an extraordinary turn of events, the reality of our situation is that, at the foot of the Premier League table and nine points adrift of safety, our fate is already sealed.

But that shouldn’t mean we just give up.

The victory at Old Trafford last weekend will go down as one of the highlights of an otherwise forgettable season.

But what was so impressive about the performance was that every Albion player fought tooth and nail for the three points. Some pride had been restored for the first time in a long time.

Towards the latter stages of Alan Pardew’s reign, the players seemed to have given up and stopped caring. The 1-4 defeat at home to Leicester City being a prime example.

I think that’s what was really frustrating for Baggies fans: that we were going down without putting up a real battle.

Darren Moore has got the team playing with more confidence and belief, though, and we look like a much more well organised unit working to a set gameplan.

The aim between now and May 13 has to be to sustain the level of performance shown against Manchester United and display similar resolve and belief.

The fans deserve something to cheer about and be proud of after such a torrid season.
